Speakers

    David L. Beckwith is co-owner of a software company that books golf reservations through the Internet. David is currently involved with several Internet projects including the DCGS and Smoky Mountain Historical Society home pages as well as the Smoky Mountain Ancestral Quest, which contains his personal genealogy database of more than 65,000 names.

    Jeff Bockman is President of the DCGS and active as a teacher in our beginning genealogy classes. He is currently designing the Gen-Web site for DuPage County. For 16 years, Jeff has developed hardware and software support for country-wide insurance systems.

    Associate Professor of History at Southern IL, University, Edward J. O'Day is a specialist in German, Irish and immigration genealogy. His published works include Irish Laborers on the Western Railroad and Reconstructing Immigrant Family from United States Records.

    Patricia Reaves learned old German script at the knee of her grandfather in her native country. As a genealogy consultant, professional teacher and language instructor, Patricia brings superior credentials to her sessions, which will expand upon last year's German research topics.

    A professional genealogist and author specializing in Chicago research, Loretto Dennis Szucs is well-known to our genealogical community. Her Chicago and Cook County Sources is the handbook for Chicago research. Lou is Managing Editor of Ancestry Publishing Company.

    Paul Valasek, DDS has visited Eastern Europe six times in successful pursuits of family history. Paul is the Treasurer and Editor for Czech & Slovak Genealogy Society of Illinois and has twice served as the Conference Chairman for the Polish Genealogical Society of America.'s Genealogy Books, CD-ROMS, Maps and Supplies, has been a familiar face as a vendor at DCGS conferences for many years. She has spent 25 years researching her family lines. Mary and her husband, Bob Storbeck, previously sold computer hardware and software to small businesses.
