- Presented by Jennifer Holik
Most genealogists use some version of family tree software to record and organize their data. Does that software always show the data in ways that help answer all the questions, fill in data gaps, and move research forward? Research examples will be shown from Excel and OneNote to visualize data to fill in research gaps, answer questions, and organize your data. Mapping tools will be explored as a resource to visually document families. Finally, blogging will be discussed as an option to answer questions, share data and move your research forward.

Massachusetts Vital Records
Massachusetts Senate Bill 820 seeks to close all vital records after 1841. S820 states that only the person named in a vital record or his parent, guardian, or attorney can look at a record or get a certified copy of a record. This law applies for records all the way back to 1841, that is, to all the birth and marriage records for the last 169 years. You can see the full text at www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/186/st00/st00820.htm
Massachusetts is an open records state and has been so since 1641. Genealogists are asked to contact the Massachusetts House Ways and Means members at www.mass.gov/legis/comm/h34.htm
